01 - 4 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp or Braeburn), cored

→ Crumble Topping

02 - 1/2 cup rolled oats
03 - 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
04 - 2 tablespoons almond flour or whole wheat flour
05 - 2 tablespoons light brown sugar or coconut sugar
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - Pinch of salt
09 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
10 - 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce

11 - 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
02 - Wash and core the apples, keeping the bottoms intact to create cavities for the filling.
03 - In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, chopped nuts, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir thoroughly.
04 - Incorporate melted butter and applesauce into the dry mixture, stirring until evenly moistened.
05 - If desired, fold in raisins or dried cranberries to the crumble mixture.
06 - Place the apples upright in a baking dish and generously fill each cavity with the oat-nut crumble mixture.
07 - Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking.
08 - Cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
09 - Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
10 - Serve warm, plain or optionally with a dollop of Greek yogurt or maple syrup.
